Methyl Folate - 400mcg

Jarrow Formulas Methyl Folate 400 µg provides folate as Quatrefolic® – the glucosamine salt of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF), the active form of folate that circulates in the blood and needs no conversion in the body. This form is relevant for people with less efficient conversion of synthetic folic acid (e.g. MTHFR gene variants).

• Folate contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy.
• Folate contributes to normal blood formation, normal homocysteine metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
• Folate contributes to normal psychological function and the normal function of the immune system.
• Supplemental folic acid intake increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus (beneficial effect with 400 µg of supplemental folate daily for at least one month before and up to three months after conception).
